Polymersomes (the synthetic equivalent of liposomes) are nanometer scale containers with a polymeric membrane which encloses an aqueous interior (for example a drug) before its release.
Prof. Eisenberg’s team have put together a new polymersome structure based on tribloc polymers (PEG-b-PS-b-PDEA). Cryogenic transmission electron microscopy analyses have shown that permeability can be reversibly modulated by change of pH, thus permitting drug-delivery applications.
