MODEL | CoreTOM |
The TESCAN CoreTOM is a vertical scanning system using a 45 kg capacity turntable that can accommodate objects up to 1.5 m high by 30 cm in diameter. The maximum resolution for small objects is in the micron range. The system can operate for several hours to reduce the noise level of the images. The samples placed in the micro CT can be connected through baffles and an electronic interface to outside devices such as an environmental chamber, a triaxial or a pressure chamber, all available in the laboratory.
This µCT is also dedicated to the in situ kinetic analysis of transformations within various samples. It is equipped with a very large detector which allows rapid acquisition of images to monitor these transformations. The image acquisition and reconstruction software suite is specially designed to do this type of monitoring. The µCT is equipped with an in situ analysis module, meaning that it is possible to easily connect measuring devices outside the µCT to detectors located inside. It is also possible to insert the following new experimental platforms into the µCT:
An environmental chamber to control the temperature and humidity of samples A triaxial device for characterizing the behavior and determining the mechanical parameters of soils and other materials.
A high pressure titanium box to reproduce conditions in very deep ground.
