Zetasizer (particle size and charge measurement)

Zetasizer (particle size and charge measurement)

MANUFACTURER Malvern
MODEL Zetasizer Nano ZSP

General description:

The Zetasizer Nano ZSP is the top-of-the-line model in Malvern’s Nano series of zetasizers. Thanks to its 10 mW laser, the Nano ZSP is ten times more sensitive than other models in the Nano series, which use less powerful lasers and detectors. This instrument enables the characterization of colloidal formulations, nanoparticles, macromolecules, emulsions, and proteins in terms of charge (zeta potential) and size. The technology, based on light scattering detection, is non-invasive, non-destructive, and does not disturb the system under study.

Applications:

Determination of particle and macromolecule size; determination of the zeta potential of particles and the surface zeta potential of charged proteins; measurement of molar mass and the second Virial coefficient; study of the behavior in solution and aggregation of proteins and other colloids; study of nanoparticle manufacturing processes and protein formulation to enhance stability, minimize aggregation, and extend product shelf life; evaluation of formulation stability at normal and/or extreme temperatures.

Characteristics :

Multiple technologies integrated into a single instrument:

  • Dynamic light scattering (DLS)
  • Non-invasive backscattering (NIBS)
  • Laser Doppler electrophoresis (ELS)

Other features:

  • 10 mW 633 nm HeNe laser
  • Particle size analysis ranging from 0.3 nm to 10 µm
  • Temperature range: 0.0 °C to 90.0 °C (+/- 0.1 °C)
  • Concentration range (proteins and polymers): 0.1 mg/mL to 15 mg/mL
  • Maximum particle concentration: approximately 40% weight/volume
